Consultations
We work with MacEwan students in all programs, in all years of study, and at any stage of the writing process.
Our tutors can support you in planning and outlining your essay, answer questions that arise while you’re writing, or review a draft of your paper and provide feedback for revising your writing and citation. However, we do not edit or proofread documents.
Please note, when making an appointment, tutors will expect to see a written draft and/or an assignment guideline to discuss during your session.
The Writing Centre is located in the Library, room 6-202. Please check the Library’s Hours of Operation to plan your visit. The Writing Centre is closed on weekends and statutory holidays.

In-Person or Online Appointments
Schedule a 25-minute or a 45-minute in-person or online appointment with one of our tutors for support at any stage of the writing process.
If you choose an online appointment, select your appointment 5-10 minutes before appointment start time. Then, click “Start or Join Online Consultation.”
In-person appointments are in room 6-202 in the Library.
Written Feedback
Do you want feedback on your paper without having to show up for an appointment? Schedule a Written Feedback appointment, and upload your paper (doc or docx only) and assignment guidelines (doc, docx, or pdf) on your appointment form. Then, you will be emailed when the feedback is done, and there will be a separate email with the paper attached.
The appointment date and time may not coincide with when the written feedback will be completed and emailed to you. It typically takes 1-3 business days (weekdays, excluding weekends and holidays) to complete written feedback, with longer response times during peak times of the semester. Make sure you plan accordingly and submit early!
Your paper does not have to be finished: you can submit a few paragraphs or a draft in progress. Tutors are typically able to comment on 2-3 areas of improvement for each submission. Tutors may limit feedback to five pages in longer papers.
Walk-In Appointments
Walk-in appointments are welcome if a tutor is available and can be scheduled during your visit to the Writing Centre. To ensure you can access our services, it is recommended that you schedule an appointment ahead of time.
