L-Pass (EPL)

Q: What is the L-Pass (Library Pass) service?

A: MacEwan University Library has a partnership with the Edmonton Public Library (EPL) to provide free access to public library collections and services for valid MacEwan students, staff, faculty and retirees. MacEwan Library card holders who register for the L-Pass enjoy full EPL membership privileges.

Q: I already have an EPL library card. Can I still get the L-Pass?

A: Yes. Your MacEwan library card barcode number will be applied to a new EPL account. This means that you will use the barcode on your MacEwan card to access EPL services -- not your EPL library card. Any outstanding charges will remain on your account.

Q: Do I have to register for this service each year?

A: Yes. Your L-Pass expires each year on August 31st. If you are still a student or employee of MacEwan University as of September 1st or you are a MacEwan retiree you can register again for L-Pass. For example, a current student registering for the L-Pass on November 20, 2023, will have an expiry date of August 31st, 2024.

Q: What if I lose or replace my MacEwan card?

A: Report a lost L-Pass registered MacEwan card to the Edmonton Public Library as soon as possible. An Edmonton Public Library staff member can assist you in reactivating your L-Pass on your replacement MacEwan library card.

Q: I have forgotten my EPL PIN. How can I find out what it is?

A: You can use EPL's Forgot your PIN? service or call any EPL branch to receive your PIN over the phone. Confirmation of your card number and other account information will be required.
