Handbook for Training Peer Tutors and Mentors

My post-secondary career began as a faculty member in an academic support centre, working along side a dedicated team of staff and peer tutors to support student learning. I came across this book while looking for resources to support our learning centre’s training and development efforts. This handbook is presented as a collection of modules that share the experience of more than 100 learning centre professionals covering topics that include student development, tutor recruitment, training, and centre evaluation. This book both validated and challenged my preconceptions of our learning centre and offered a framework for a professional and structured approach to all aspects of our operations. I remain grateful for the sharing of knowledge, the high standards for practice, and the inspiration this book provided.
