Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened

I came across Brosh's comics about depression when I was a grad student beginning my training in counselling psychology. Her honest and hilarious depiction of mental health opened my eyes to the different ways we can therapeutically relate to one another. As a grad student, these comics inspired me to create a bibliotherapy group for depression (during my placement at MacEwan's counselling centre). This experience sparked what would become a passion for facilitating group counselling in my career moving forward. Depression can trick us into thinking we're alone in our feelings or experiences, but literature, like group counselling, reminds us that we're not.
