Visiting the Library 

John L. Haar Library is open during library hours. Here’s what you can expect when you visit: 

  • Masks are required in the library. Following University and Government guidelines, masks are mandatory in all public spaces on campus, including the library. 

  • Please follow physical distancing protocols and keep a 2-metre (6-foot) distance between you and others while in the library. 

  • Computers are available (MacEwan login required).  

    • Public access computers (no login required) are unavailable until further notice. 

  • Collaborative, quiet, and silent study spaces are available in the library.

    • Group study rooms and the audio production room are unavailable.

    • Additional study space is available in the SAMU Building

Borrowing from the Library 

  • Some library items will remain unavailable. More information on what you can borrow has been updated on our Borrowing page

  • Requesting items from partner libraries (e.g. UofA, NorQuest) has been restored. Items must be picked up at MacEwan Library or requested through Distance Delivery

Health and Safety Procedures 

  • Plexiglass shields have been installed to protect visitors and library staff. 

  • Seating and computers have been spread out to encourage physical distancing. 

  • Following Government of Alberta guidelines, Library items will be quarantined for 72hrs before they can be borrowed again.

    • Please disregard any return or overdue notices you receive during the 72hr quarantine period.
