Recommended to me by one of my doctoral advisors and professors, Clifford's book astonished me with its succinct yet incisive interpretation of Isaiah 40-55, a literary complex that I had always found intriguing and beautiful but had not fully appreciated as a cohesive, rhetorical tour de force anchored in a particular historical context.Clifford's brilliant yet concise historical and rhetorical analysis was foundational in the development of my dissertation.
