MacEwan Library patrons have some borrowing privileges with other libraries through co-operative library consortia, including NEOS and TAL. MacEwan also offers and Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service for materials that are unavailable from MacEwan Library. For more information, see the Interlibary Loans tab.
MacEwan is a member of NEOS, a co-operative library consortium composed of a number of government, hospital, and university and university libraries throughout Alberta, including the University of Alberta. MacEwan cardholders are able to take advantage of a range of onsite services such as reciprocal borrowing and reference services.
Grant MacEwan University also accepts library cards from NEOS member institutions for borrowing purposes, but borrowers must comply with the circulation policies of the Library.
The Alberta Library Card is a reciprocal borrowing program that offers Albertans direct access to the collections of member libraries of The Alberta Library (TAL), including Edmonton Public Library.
Any student, staff or faculty of Grant MacEwan University is eligible to participate in reciprocal borrowing through The Alberta Library and will be issued a card upon request. MacEwan borrowers must comply with each library's borrowing policies when using their TAL cards. Request a TAL card from the Borrower Services Desk at any MacEwan Library.
Materials borrowed from any participating TAL or NEOS library may be returned to a MacEwan Library or any participating library.
To avoid fines, these materials must be returned on or before the due date indicated by the lending library. Library staff will flag the item(s) with the date of return; the "home" library will use the date indicated on the flag to check in the materials.
